Grass Pad Inc. began with humble beginnings on a 700-acre sod farm in Farley, Missouri. With no telephone, running water, and only two light bulbs to illuminate the way, customers from all around would journey to the old barn on a gravel road to find the lush, green sod that Grass Pad had to offer. Our philosophy was and continues to be: “Imitate nature! Plant the finest seed. Feed it. Prevent crabgrass and weeds.” This Idiot Proof program laid the foundation for our growth. What started as a small farm has now grown into six locations, each carrying on the tradition of providing top-quality turf and landscaping products.
At Grass Pad Inc., our mission is simple: we want as many people as possible to experience the benefits of well-maintained turf grass, trees, shrubs, and flowers. Whether it’s on a golf course, a local park, a sports field, or in your own backyard, our wholesale and retail warehouse model allows us to provide professional-quality products and expert advice to both commercial clients and homeowners alike.

History: AMGUARD Environmental Technologies, with a rich history spanning 55 years, rebranded from AMVAC Environmental Products in May 2021. AMGUARD serves the US Public Health, Pest Control, Ornamental & Greenhouse, Golf, Lawn & Landscape, and Consumer markets. Our portfolio company, OHP, Inc., specializes in ornamental, greenhouse, and Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) markets.
We have been a proud Primera Supplier Member for 14 years. Our partnership with Primera has grown even stronger through the contributions of John Smith, who transitioned from AMGUARD’s Vice President of Commercial Operations to Primera’s VP of Supplier Relations.

Our History
Since the company’s inception in 2001, a large number of the industry’s leading distributors and suppliers have joined Primera in an effort to exceed the market in terms of growth while enhancing their efficiency and profitability. In our 21 years as a cooperative, we have continued to evolve in order to better meet the needs of our members. Beginning in the early 2000s, Primera set out to establish the company’s reputation in the industry. In order to accommodate the growing number of new Member-Owners and Suppliers joining the co-op, Primera implemented a customer-service business strategy for our membership during the ensuing decade. In 2020, we took steps and made a commitment to become the industry’s foremost strategic partner for both our Member-Owner Companies and our Supplier Partners.
